AIAA SF Logo Design

The AIAA San Francisco Section logo was redesigned in August 2004. The design incorporates the official AIAA one-line logo, accessible to members on the AIAA national website, and adds an abstract design of the Golden Gate bridge (which is actually somewhat reddish in color) atop the words "San Francisco".

This version does not appear on the new section banner displayed at dinner meetings. At this writing (September 2004), it has been used on nametags. There are plans to use it on stationery.

Reference Design

The reference logo design was produced using Adobe Illustrator 8 on a Mac OS 9 system.

The size of the bounding box (432, 411) - (144, 361) is (288,50). At 72 points/inch, this is 4 inches wide by 0.7 inches tall. Of course, the scalable design allows it to be shrunk or expanded as needed.

The color scheme has been chosen to be easily reproducible. The reference design is composed of simple solid colors. Values below are given as RGB (red/green/blue) percentage [(0%/0%/0%) to (100%/100%/100%)] and 8-bit [(0/0/0) to (255/255/255)] values. (The triplet (0/0/0) is black.)

The dark blue lettering ("AIAA" and "San Francisco") and trajectory graphic are (0/0/102) or (0%/0%/40%).
The arches and towers of the bridge are (153/51/51) or (60%/20%/20%).
The bottom lettering "American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics" are black.

GIF Files

These GIF images were generated from the original EPS graphic by Adobe Illustrator 8 on Mac OS 9. They were exported to GIF with anti-aliasing at various resolutions.

GIF Scalings

To fit the logo into tight corners, it is possible to take the 72 dpi logo and scale down.

2/3 scale: width 185 height 33

PNG Files

These PNG images were converted from GIF images of the same dimensions by the ImageMagick 6.0.x "convert" command on Linux 2.6.x. The layout is identical, but the sizes of the files are slightly smaller than their GIF counterparts.
