PROJECT: Giant Scale R/C Reno Air Racing

Project Lead

Rob Wood
rwood@hooked.net (Tell him the AIAA sent you!)

Anecdotal Information and Project Background

Rob Wood is a journalist, author and computer enthusiast, specializing in radio-control giant scale air racing. He's the racing correspondent for Model Airplane News, and has been covering the sport since before the first race was held at Madera, California in 1991. His involvement in gathering information and writing about the sport led to active participation as a competitor, and over the past four years his team--Classical Racing Team--has won over a dozen silver and gold trophies in the Unlimited, AT-6 and Formula One classes. The Sea Fury that was featured at the AIAA January 1996 dinner meeting is the team's latest entry in the Unlimited competition, and will be campaigned in the 1996 season. The Sea Fury was literally created from scratch, with measurements of a full-size Sea Fury as the starting point in the CAD design process.

Project Description

Rob Wood and his team are now looking for new team members to help with all aspects of their Giant-Scale Reno Air Racing program so that they may continue to dominate the competitions.
