December 17, 2008; 6:30pm-9:00pm
Michaels at Shoreline, Mountain View

Are you interested in aviation history? Would you like to learn more about some aviation “firsts” such as the first unmanned airplane, first gliders, and first helicopters?
Come hear Jeffery Bass, President and CEO of the Hiller Aviation Museum as he explores some interesting Hiller aircraft and tells their fascinating stories. Hiller innovations in the technology of vertical flight include the first helicopter flown in the United States, the world’s first successful co-axial helicopter, the famed Flying Platform, the unique “Hornet” powered by rotor-tip mounted ramjet engines, and the first high-speed vertical take-off-and-landing tilt-wing troop transport.
December 17th is a day to celebrate aviation history. It was on this day, in 1903, that Orville Wright piloted the first airplane. So come celebrate with AIAA and learn about other “firsts” in aviation.
