Bill Nott is the
chair of the education board for the USA section of Engineers Without Borders.
He and his collogues Heather Fleming and Francis Doumet
will be the guest speakers at the AIAA San Francisco Section's Annual Awards
banquet on Wednesday, August 29.
Engineers Without Borders is a non-profit humanitarian organization that
partners with developing communities worldwide to implement sustainable
engineering projects, while involving and training internationally responsible
engineers and engineering students. Activities include construction of
sustainable systems and developing local, technical, managerial, and
entrepreneurial skills. These projects are initiated by, and completed with,
contributions from the host community working with project teams composed of
professional and university chapter members.

Recently
retired Mechanical Engineer from Lockheed Martin Space Systems, Bill Nott is
active with Engineers Without Borders-USA. He has worked on a variety of K-12
programs supporting engineering, science and math including:
- Chair, Education Board, Engineers Without Borders-USA
- Member of ASME Center for Public Awareness & Pre-College Education Committee
- Regional Chair for FIRST Silicon Valley region
- Member of the Board of Directors for the EAST Initiative
- Industry Advisor for CETA
- Member of the National Engineers Week Committee for 2005
Heather Fleming leads the Engineers Without Borders - Appropriate
Technology Design Team with Francis Doumet. Heather is also an active member of
the Wind Turbine Team, developing a small-scale turbine for rural Guatemala.
Heather is a project manager and mechanical engineer at D2M Inc, a product
design consultancy in the bay area. She has several years experience designing,
developing, and delivering technical product solutions to a diverse range of
companies.
Heather has a BS in Product Design from Stanford University.
Francis Doumet leads the Engineers Without Borders - Appropriate
Technology Design Team with Heather Fleming. Francis was involved in building a
fuel efficient stove for the Darfur region, a project which is now seeking
separate non-profit status. He is currently working on long term management and
strategies for his team. Francis is a software engineer at Velocity11, a biotech
robotics company in the Bay Area.
Francis holds a M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford University.
