Imagine what it might have been like to go with some colleagues to a brew-pub after
work to talk with Wernher von Braun about your favorite moon-landing ideas. This
is the essence of the da Vinci Forum, a new informal technical discussion
series brought to you by the SF Section of the American Institute of Aeronautics and
Astronautics. Da Vinci Forum events will be held in the early evenings at
local (Silicon Valley) cafes and pubs where technical professionals and interested
members of the public can enjoy some food and drink while discussing interesting
technical ideas. In addition to occasional
Special Events, a regular da Vinci
Forum is held on the last Friday of each month.
If you have some interesting ideas for da Vinci Forum topics,
some favorite pubs at which to hold the da Vinci Forum, or if you
have questions about the da Vinci Forum, please contact
Matt Jardin, the
Young Members Director.
From 6pm to 7:30 pm on the last Friday of each month,
the da Vinci Forum on carbonated low-specific-gravity
fluid mechanics will be held at the St. James Infirmary,
390 Moffett Blvd, Mountain View, CA.
Just come by, look for the "AIAA" sign, and join in the festivities.
The discussions are not moderated and will not usually follow a
central theme, but you'll generally have some fun. This is an
excellent way to unwind after a nice, productive work-week and to
meet other aerospace professionals in an informal setting.
The St. James recently underwent remodelling and now boasts
a selection of 101 excellent ales, lagers, porters, stouts,
and hefe-weizens from around the world that can be used to
complement the fine cuisine coming out of the kitchen.
And speaking of 101, the St. James Infirmary is located on
Moffett Blvd. about 1/2 mile west of highway 101 in Mountain
View, CA.
